Baccalaureate Mass FOTD

Ben, Karen, Maricris, Mary Rose and I

Hi my fellow lovely bloggers! I know its been awhile since I posted something, but I really had to focus on school these past few months. This semester felt like, both the longest and quickest sem ever! I can't really explain it, but when I was in the thick of things (exams, presentations, papers) I couldn't wait for it to be over. However, now that graduation is only days away (seven, to be precise), I'm not so sure if I'm ready for it all to end.

Hopefully, after school ends, I'll be able to post more and maybe, get healthier. I was so stressed out this semester, that I gained so much weight! In between working, fulfilling my Internship and handling school business - I just stopped caring about eating healthy and exercising. I was kinda disappointed in myself, but hey, I'm ending this year with a Bachelor's degree!

So on to the FOTD:

Here's a picture of me before the Baccalaureate Mass - FYI, for those who don't know what a Baccalaureate  Mass is - its a Catholic mass to celebrate graduation. I went for a brown smoky eye - using the pigments from MAC's A Tartan Tale holiday collection. I used Jigs and Jive all over my lid, Bronze (a regular eyeshadow) in my crease and Blue Brown (which I love) in my outer V. I also used MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack to line my upper lid and Ardell lashes.

Here's a close-up:

Please excuse the messy hair - it truly was a long day! So, I'm hoping to write another blog post, at least before the end of the year. :)

See ya'll soon!

Tea anyone - NYX JEP FOTD (Milk and Lemon)

Hey all, it’s been awhile! So while I have a little break from school work, I wanted to do a post. I actually took these pictures awhile back, so please forgive me if I can’t remember the exact products I used. >_<*

Anyway, since my last post was about de-sticking NYX JEP’s, I decided to do an FOTD, using two of my faves; Milk and Lemon.

Milk is looks just like it sounds – its a really Matte White. Lemon, on the other hand is a light green – they should’ve named it Lime, in my opinion.

Here’s the FOTD:

main fotd

Forgive the hair, I did this late and night, right before going to bed. I remember using my Maybelline Emerald Smokes Quad on top of the NYX JEP’s and a little bit of MAC’s Sumptuous Olive on the outer two-thirds.

eyes closed

I’m also using falsies here, in case you didn’t notice! My lash application skills are getting quite better – I’m not a hundred percent perfect, but I hope I get there someday. :D

DSC_0077

Here’s a shot where you can see my horrible eyebags and up my nostrils! Sorry for this, but I just really wanted to show-off my false lashes.

Anyway, I was finally able to take a break from school to check out the MAC Venomous Villains collection, and lemme tell you, my counter was almost sold out of products!! I did haul quite a bit (next post, hopefully), but I missed out on the Bite of An Apple blush – the only thing I really wanted. My MUA is saying that they’ve re-ordered and will be getting the shipment by the 15th. I highly doubt it though, since a lot of the products are sold-out online. :(

So, till the next time ladies.

+ How to de-stick NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils +

Man, its been awhile! You can blame the usual suspects – school and work. Well, mostly school! As some of you ladies know, this is my last semester of college – three more months and I’m done!

Anyway, I bought my first NYX JEP, about a month ago and I loved it. I really didn’t have any complaints, until it came time to sharpen the thing!

I couldn’t find a sharpener the right size, and when I did – sharpening the JEP just took off too much product! So, I decided to look for a way to de-stick the thing. There are quite a few tutorial vids on YouTube, but I thought this particular method was the easiest. And here it goes;

DSC_0075

First of all, you need a 5 gm pot or larger, preferably with a screw-type lid and your NYX JEP (I’ll be using Milk for this tutorial). Also, remove the cap at the end of your JEP.

DSC_0077

Next, smudge the product protruding from the end of the stick into your pot.

DSC_0076

Then, take your JEP and stick it upside down, on top of the smudged product.

DSC_0084

Take the pot and the JEP and put it in a mug. Place this in your microwave (yes, I said microwave). Heat the product in one-minute intervals. Constantly check the product by lifting up the stick. If the product slides out completely, then you should be done. If not, continue heating.

DSC_0088

The stick should be completely empty inside.

DSC_0092

And here’s the finished product!

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial, and please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions.

I’ve already de-sticked/stuck :), 8 of these JEP’s and it gets easier every time! I’ll be showing you all of my NYX JEP’s with swatches for my next post. Till then, ladies.

+ Mini haul +

So, while shopping for my latest MAC haul I came across MAC’s Sumptuous Olive Eyeshadow (Veluxe Pearl). At the time, I had second thoughts about purchasing it, but when I got home I ended up YT-ing it and doing some “research” on swatches and potential looks. After everything I saw, I knew I had to go back and purchase it!

Pictures of my haul;

MAC 224 Tapered Blending brush, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Gold, and Sumptuous Olive Eyeshadow

DSC_0068

MAC 224 up close, I love this brush! As you know, I’ve been planning to buy this brush for awhile and I’m really happy that I finally did. I’ve only used it once so far, but it’s really awesome for blending in the crease.

DSC_0071

NYX JEP in Gold – this is my first one, but I’m loving it! It’s perfect for me right now, since I’m in my whole “neutrals” phase!

DSC_0072

And finally, MAC Sumptuous Olive Eyeshadow! I love how this shadow has all sorts of awesome colors in it, Greens, Golds, Browns – I just can’t believe how beautiful it is.

DSC_0074

Swatches: NYX JEP in Gold, Sumptuous Olive, and Sumptuous Olive with NYX JEP in Gold as a base.

I had a really hard time with capturing the true colors of this shadow on camera – the shade changes depending on where the light hits! I love it, I feel like I can create so many different looks with one eyeshadow.

All in all, I’m pretty happy with my recent purchase, but this might be my last haul in a while. :( My last semester of school is starting in a few days and I’m gonna need to make some expensive book purchases. One book alone has the price tag of about $200!

Once again, thanks for reading my blog ladies! Bye. <3

FOTD – MAC Satin Taupe

Call it maturity or getting old (blech!), but I’ve been quite obsessed with Neutrals lately! If you read my MAC eyeshadow haul post, then you probably noticed the abundance of golds, bronzes, and browns. Dunno what it is, even when I’m perusing the eyeshadows at my local MAC counter, I just can’t seem to stop staring.

So, here are the pics of my mug :)

DSC_0072

DSC_0078

And the eyes up close!

I just wanna put it out there, that I am far from an expert when it comes to makeup application – still learning, like everyone else. I would appreciate any criticisms, tips, etc. But please, keep it nice and constructive ( the best kind of criticism)!

I really suck at blending, so I’m hoping to purchase the MAC 224 Tapered blending brush, hopefully it’ll help up my blending skills.

Till the next post ladies!

I’m back + MAC Haul

Wow, I can’t believe I actually wrote a blog entry, so proud of myself! It’s been a rough couple of months, what with work, school and what-not. But I’m back, and I’m hoping this is permanent.

So, before I show you my MAC eyeshadow haulage over the past two months, I have a teeny, tiny confession to make; I bought my first MAC shadow two months ago! Yup, I was a complete MAC eyeshadow virgin, up until my last journal entry. There were a few reasons why I refrained from buying MAC shadows – first and foremost was my insane fear of becoming an eyeshadow junkie. We all know MAC makes some of the best eyeshadows ever, and I was really scared of getting heavily hooked on ‘em!

I’ve managed to control my cravings, somewhat, but in all honesty – I’ve stopped buying all other makeup products at my local Macy’s! Seriously, I go straight to the MAC counter and end up blowing my cash before I’m able to go anywhere else. I really don’t regret it though, MAC products are too awesome!
Anyway, here are all of the shadows I have managed to purchase over two months ;

WARNING: Photo-heavy

I keep all of ‘em in this cute little cup that came with some flowers the hubby got me for our 2nd anniversary.

From L to R: Nocturnelle, Amber Lights, Expensive Pink, All That Glitters, Soft Brown, Satin Taupe, Bronze, and Tempting.

After looking at the pictures, I realized that Bronze and Tempting look very similar – they really don’t in person. Tempting is more of a chocolate color, while Bronze really is a Bronze. :)

Anyway, if you need any help kickstarting your MAC makeup collection, Christine of Temptalia has made a really helpful compilation of the best makeup (shadow, lippies, blushes) for your skintone.
And if you browse around her site more, she also has a list for lighter or darker skintones. Hope this helps you build your collection like it has mine!

Till the next time ladies. :D

End of the month mashup +++

Hi Ladies!!! It's been awhile and I've really missed blogging and blog-hopping. I have a ton of things to share with you - like, MAC purchases and a new skincare routine.

Anyway, you might be reading my title and wondering what this "end of the month mashup is all about" - basically, I just wanted to do an update of the things (beauty-related or otherwise) that have been keeping me busy. So here they are and in list-form, cuz that's how I do best. :D

  • I've been super busy with work and school - granted, the first summer session is ending in a few days, but I signed up for another class which begins on July 5th, so I barely have a weekend to recover. :[
  • I've been purchasing MAC a lot, I usually try to limit my MAC purchases to foundations and such, but lately I've been going crazy for their blushes and lippies. Before this year started, I only owned one Foundation (Studio Sculpt), a Powerpoint Eye Pencil (Engraved), and a concealer (Select MoistureCover) - now, I own blushes, lippies, a paint pot, eye pencils, a new foundie (Studio Fix), face powders, and brushes. This is quickly becoming an addiction!
  • I've been prepping for my last semester in college, hooray!! I can't believe how far how I've come, and I'm really scared but excited at the same time.
  • I was breaking out like crazy (one of the reasons why I took a blogging break), so I decided to change my skin routine and so far, it works!!
As for blogging, I really, really need to get back in to the swing of things!! I have so many ideas for blog posts and what-not, but no time to execute them. I swear, if I could wish for anything it would be 30-hour days!

Anyway, till the next time, my ladies!

Santa Cruzan + Made to Order FOTD

I decided to take two classes this summer – one to raise my GPA, and one to fulfill a requirement.

I’m currently taking the “Easy A” class, and I’m enjoying it. I’m taking TA101- An Intro to Tagalog class, which I am fluent in. :D

So, one of our assignments for the weekend was to attend the yearly Santa Cruzan parade in one of the hotels.

Note: A Santa Cruzan is a religious procession celebrated in the Philippines during the month of May.

It was extra special this year, cuz my mom and my nephew were part of the event.

Here are some pictures:

With me, sorry for the lighting – this was taken before the procession, mid-afternoon.

My classmate and fellow Accounting major, Markie. :D Haha, I just noticed I do the “bent arm” pose alot, ‘tis good for slimming the arms!

DSC_0387

And here’s another one with Keith and my mom, during the actual parade.

So, on to the FOTD:

DSC_0421

Sorry for the serious pose, I was trying to be model-esque. :P

I kept the look pretty simple, since it was blazing hot (100 degrees, I  believe) and I didn’t feel like sweating all my makeup off.

I used my new fave foundie, MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC40  and MAC MSF Natural in Medium Plus. I also used MAC PeachTwist as my blush, MAC Cubic to Contour, and MAC Lippie in Made-to-Order (this is the first coral lippie I’ve ever had, and I love it!!).

I loved how the foundie stayed on during the whole event, despite how sweaty I was!! It’s too soon to tell, but I feel like I may have found my new HG foundie. So, I purchased the Studio Fix Fluid a few days before the event, and I was pretty stunned when the MAC MUA informed me that I was no longer an NC35 (Studio Sculpt), I was now an NC40! I wanted to protest, but something in me told me to trust this particular MUA. Thank God, I did – because I really love everything about this particular foundation (a review should be coming up soon).

Till the next time ladies!!

I’ve been tagged +++

I was tagged by Leah from Another Makeup Blog and Krystal from Missy Sassy Pants, I decided to put the two tags together. :D

This tag has two parts, the 1st part is to reveal the 8th photo in the 8th folder on my computer so here it is:

Lush samples :D

About three weeks ago, I commented on Lora’s blog post, expressing my desire to try Lush products. I had been hearing so many good things about Lush – especially the skincare line, but I couldn’t find a way to ship the products on island. Within a day, Lora replied to my comment and offered to ship me free samples of Lush. I was beyond overjoyed and quite amazed at how nice fellow bloggers can be. :D

We quickly negotiated through e-mail,and I offered to pay for the shipping price, about 4 dollars – which really wasn’t bad considering I was getting free product samples!!

So, the package finally came in today (early bday gift!) and I am so happy. :D

Here are the pictures:

The box my package came in!

all three

(L to R) Fresh Farmacy sample, Blooming Bath Melt (bonus gift from Lora!), Vanishing Cream sample

 DSC_0331

I was surprised at the size of the Fresh Farmacy sample!

DSC_0332

Blooming Bath Melt, this product smelled heavenly. :D

However, the last sample she sent me fell victim to the shipping gods!! :[

DSC_0334

By the time the Vanishing cream reached me, it had become a congealed mess!

Overall, I was/am still amazed at the kindness of complete strangers. This is the very reason why, I started blogging – I wanted to use my voice, and I wanted someone to listen. Lora and I live thousands of miles apart, over oceans even. :D But somehow, through makeup, we were able to establish a bond. Thank you Lora, I will never forget this! So don’t be surprised if you receive something in the mail in return. :D

  4. reeskie
  5. VanessaJhoy

  7. Krystal Leigh
* I know the blog award says 10, but I'm hoping 7 is enough. :D

Anyway, for those of  you who follow me on Twitter, you probably know why I haven't been blogging lately - I popped a blood vessel in my eye. It was all gross and red - I almost missed my gala because of it. But at the last minute, I was like eff it, I'm still gonna go! So, I had fun and I do have some pictures of my OOTD - I'll prolly post that later. My eye is healing pretty well - its still red and I'm still scared to wear contacts, so I've been spending my days in a makeup-less haze with my big, dorky glasses on. :D I'm really hoping it heals soon! I really miss all of you, and even though I haven't been blogging regularly, I still comment regularly on my favorite blogs (you know who you are!). I'm planning to make a mini MAC haul post soon, I purchased a lippie and a blush, which let me tell you right now, are both to die for!!

Till the next post ladies. :D

Gala FOTD pt. 1

Hi my ladies! It’s been a week since my last blog post due to school/work obligations and what-not, but finally I feel like I can breathe! One more exam left, then I’m outtie. It’ll be summer for a few weeks (I’m taking summer classes), but after the stress of this semester, everything should be eazy-breezy in comparison.

Anyway, next week Friday our school within the University of Guam (School of Business and Public Administration) will be having the first joint gala between 5 different student organizations ever. It should be fun, I hope. Heehee, $25 additional for an all-you-can-drink ticket, now all me and the girlies need is a designated driver. Anyone wanna volunteer?
So, aside from planning my outfit I’ve been testing some makeup looks too. My dress is black and white, which means I can go super crazy with my makeup!

Here’s the first look I put together:

eyes
Closeup of the eyes
1
2
I finally figured out how to make the colors of the my recent Maybelline Quad purchase pop – I used a NYX eye pencil in Moss. I’m liking this look – I never really thought I could pull off the color green, but somehow it turned out pretty good.
Here are the products I used:

Eyes:
Maybelline Emerald Smokes Quad
MAC Powerpoint pencil in Engraved
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack

Face:
Rimmel Mousse Bronzer (01, I think)
ELF cream blush stick
MAC blush in Cubic
Maybelline Color Sensationals Lippie in bit of berry w/ MAC Dazzleglass in Soft Dazzle on top.

Also, here’s a picture of the mess I made:
3 Haha, this is the reason why my hubby gets freaked out when I start "experimenting" with my make-up. :D

And just to throw it in, here’s a picture of my hubby on the computer:
DSC_0201

He was freaking out over how oily his forehead looked, I swear he can be such a girl sometimes. :D
I’m planning to do at least two more “test” looks before the day of the gala. I’m leaning towards purple for the next one. So, till next time girlies.
